 Master Plan and Policy Amendment

The Griesbach community is built on a former Canadian Forces Base site in the north side of Edmonton. The property was purchased by Canada Lands Company from the Department of National Defence in 2003. Since then, about 60% of Griesbach has been developed into a thriving, family-friendly, sustainable neighbourhood that maintains a traditional community character and a profound respect for the land’s military legacy. One of the last remaining undeveloped portions is the North East Corner, a 155-acre parcel home to several existing Private Married Quarters (PMQ) military family housing units.

B&A is preparing a Master Plan and vision for the North East Corner. This project presents an opportunity to act on the newly developed City Plan, integrate seamlessly into the existing Griesbach community and pivot the community’s future growth for longer-term longevity. To bring this vision to life, the team has engaged with the community in a series of design workshops to prepare a master plan and subsequent policy amendment to the City of Edmonton. Throughout the project, inclusive and fulsome public and stakeholder engagement with be a focal point.

The project team, known collectively as the Griesbach Collaborative, is headed by B&A and is comprised of award-winning urban designers, planners, and engagement experts. Our Core Design Team is comprised of our trusted landscape architecture, urban design, transportation planning and civil engineering partners. We have also partnered with group of Subject Matter Experts in accessibility and indigenous consultation.
