Client | Town of Whitecourt |
Identifying opportunities and creating a plan to capitalize on well-situated industrial lands to ensure a healthy, resilient community.
Whitecourt and Woodlands County were awarded an Alberta Community Partnership Grant to complete a Regional Business Park Feasibility Study, with the goal of creating an Industrial Land Strategy report. The report evaluates the suitability and opportunities for development of a regional business park for Whitecourt.
The Whitecourt & Woodlands County Industrial Land Strategy will assist the municipalities in analyzing the development possibilities and the financial obligations of a business park and provide strategies and next steps in advancing development. The study aims to inform future coordination of industrial land use policy and servicing investments for business park development in the area.
The Industrial Land Strategy included an analysis of current and future market demand and required land supply, a Land Suitability Assessment that explored optimal locations for a future business park, and a high-level conceptual site design and servicing plan. The project scope also included an analysis of various financial models to support the development of a future business park, a Readiness Strategy that outlined key sectors for growth, potential partnerships, municipal tools to encourage investment, and recommendations for implementation. B&A Planning Group was the project manager and planning consultant on the project, managing all deliverables throughout the project phases. B&A also completed a detailed GIS and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis for the Land Suitability Assessment to determine optimal business park locations, developed the conceptual site design, and designed and compiled the Industrial Land Strategy report.
